A Warm Welcome Back at the Re-Freshers Fair

On Wednesday 18 January, Durham Students’ Union will be hosting Re-Freshers Fair- a great way to get back into the swing of university life after the winter break.

Re-Freshers Fair is a great way for students to remind themselves of everything there is to get involved with and sign up for new societies. It’s a great opportunity to get involved with the Students’ Union and people in the local area.

Frehsers Fair mainRe-Freshers Fair is another chance for students to find out about clubs and societies they might have missed at the main Freshers Fair during Induction Week. There’s so much going on during the Freshers Fair, it’s almost too much to take in, so this way they can have another look and remind themselves on what activities are on offer. For students who missed out on information when they first arrived, this provides another chance to join in and sign up at the start of the new year.

Students Union have over 200 clubs and societies to choose from, representing everything from to Aerial Arts to World Cinema. There are societies related to academic studies, politics, religion, dancing, food and drink and all manner of special interests, so students can meet people to share their hobbies. There are the ever-popular Chocolate Society, Cheese Society and Coffee Society, along with some of the more unusual groups including the Werewolf Society!

There are loads of musically talented students at Durham, so Music Durham will be on hand to recruit singers and musicians to the choirs, orchestras, bands and ensembles that Durham is famous for. Anyone interested in theatre can find out more about the 27 different theatre companies that make up Durham Student Theatre (DST) and the various ways to get involved in everything from writing and directing, to performing in one of the many productions that are staged every year.

Student Community Action (SCA) will also be offering information on the 50 different volunteering projects they run and encouraging students even more students to share their time and skills to help out.

First term at university is always incredibly busy, so it’s likely that you didn’t manage to fit in all of the activities you wanted to take part in. So use this opportunity to try new things and get involved with societies you enjoy or may never have tried before!

Re-Freshers Fair will take place from 12 – 4pm in Durham Students’ Union, Dunelm House.
