Hi, I’m a PhD student in the Department of Archaeology researching how natural disasters affected society during the medieval period. My research is mainly focussed in Europe but I am interested in medieval archaeology more generally across the Old World. Over the last 3 years I have worked on a landscape survey based in Oman, which included the study of imported Chinese ceramics. When the chance emerged to become involved in a project between Archaeology and the Palace Museum in Beijing I was very keen to take part.
From 4th-23rd May I took part in an archaeological collaboration between Durham University and the Palace Museum in Beijing. This was an absolutely amazing opportunity to learn about Chinese archaeology
