Where Data Meets Computer Science

Undergraduate Student Summerships

The BSI Summer Bursary Programme has been developed to:

  • provide research training opportunities for undergraduates entering the final year of their course (ie Level 2 students on BSc programmes; Level 3 students on MSci programmes) from the School of Biological & Biomedical Sciences, Departments of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Psychology and the School of Engineering & Computer Sciences. Applications from undergraduates that meet the above criteria but are registered with a UK University other than Durham will also be considered.
  • encourage interdisciplinary research at the biological interface, to support projects that are aligned to the BSI’s interdisciplinary research approach.  For more details about BSI research please visit: www.dur.ac.uk/bsi/.

Funding will be available to support programmes of a minimum 4 weeks and maximum 8 weeks duration (please specify the length of programme required in the application form). Start and end dates are to be discussed and agreed by the proposed Supervisor(s). Undergraduate students will be required to complete a short report at the end of the placement outlining key outcomes of the programme of work.

Deadline: March, every year.
