|Welcome||Notices||The Chaplain & Chapel Officers||Services||Music||History|
I hope this finds you well, and that you've had a good and refreshing summer, and are looking forward to the new term and academic year.
Over the summer, we have celebrated three weddings in college, and the choir has been on a very successful tour to Oxford. We also welcomed a number of old members into chapel at the Castle Society Reunion weekend. That same weekend, former chapel clerk Danni Oliver-Wakeley was married in Reading; she is now Danni Malone, and we wish her and her husband Rory all the best for the future.
Chapel termcards will be available at the end of the week. To mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, our sermon series this term will explore themes of 'Peace, War, and Faith', and this promises to be thought-provoking and interesting.
There are chapel events and services this week, to which everyone is warmly invited, and especially encouraged to come and meet freshers.
On Thursday, together with the college CU, we are hosting a tea-party between 4 and 5.30. If the weather remains fine, it will be in Fellows' Garden; if inclement, in the Norman Chapel. From 5pm there will be an open choir practice in the Tunstall Chapel for anyone who would like to turn up and sing. This will be in preparation for Welcome Evensong at 6pm. This is especially to welcome the freshers, but also to mark the beginning of the new academic year. On Sunday, there will be a sung eucharist in the Tunstall Chapel at 11 a.m.
This year's chapel committee is as follows:
Chapel clerk - Ed Hardyman, 3rd year Chemistry.
Director of Music - Daniel Gostin, PhD Music
Assistant Director of Music - Will Ford (Josephine Butler), 2nd yr Music.
Chapel Secretary - Tom Rowarth, 3rd year Sports Science
Chapel Social Secretary - Kara-Jane Senior, 3rd yr Natural Sciences.
Also, we will be having another placement student from Cranmer Hall, Ellie Bangay, on placement with us in chapel. We look forward to getting to know her, and having her with us.
Finally, we have moved over entirely to the new website www.castlechapel.co.uk
We are, of course, still on Facebook as Castle Chapel!
I look forward to seeing you soon.
With all good wishes,
The Revd Dr Hannah Cleugh
Chaplain and Solway Fellow
