Ten events have taken place across three streams of activity (Sunday Science Evensongs, Faith in Science Lectures, Science in the Cathedral tours). The Sunday events took the format of a traditional sung Evensong, with scientist-Christians taking the sermon slot to introduce the themes of the project. Invited speakers discussed the themes of the project – including genetics, AI, the big bang and physics – in depth in a lecture-theatre environment. The second lecture was moved from the University to the Cathedral in an attempt to move the audience between venues; this proved successful. Two walking tours led by Derby historians helped to illuminate Derby’s heritage of Christian scientific discovery by telling the story of a number of Enlightenment thinkers including John Whitehurst, John Flamsteed and George Sorocold.
