Student Volunteering Week (SVW) 2017 is just around the corner! On Monday 20th February, students across the country will be volunteering and helping their local communities and Durham is not missing out!
Click here for the SVW2017 schedule of all the volunteering opportunities we are running for SVW, including the annual Harry Potter children’s party; a visit to Washington Stables to help with horse riding for the disabled and even a visit to a farm in North Yorkshire!
Some of our projects are also running a “Give it a Go” sessions for the week! From an informal chat with adults at GOALS, to running drama activities for kids in our Thurston Drama Project, there is something for everyone to get involved in!
All you need to do to get involved in our sessions is make sure you sign up to our database, and then use this link (https://www.dur.ac.uk/experiencedurham/studentvolunteering/one-offs/ss/) to sign up for as many sessions as you want! We do have a maximum capacity on some activities, so make sure you sign up quickly to volunteer!

It is the 1st September today, and that means it is only 32 days until term starts at Durham University! To celebrate, we challenge you to get your aprons on and release the inner Mary Berry in you with our project of the week… Free Cakes for Kids!!
Free Cakes for Kids is a community service for families who find it difficult to provide a birthday cake for their child. The cakes are baked by volunteers in the child’s favourite theme or style. So if you’re a keen baker and just can’t eat anymore, get in touch!
Contact Ellen and Olivia at email@example.com to get your bake on!
Thank you to everyone who came along to the talks today. All the information on the programmes can be found here (Prison programmes) and here (Police Programmes).
