Children and Young People

There are plenty opportunities to work with young people from sports sessions      delivered by student coaches and volunteers at holiday camps or after school clubs to working with local school children with behavioural difficulties in weekly sessions to develop their confidence. There is also the chance for you to gain coaching             qualifications and awards while volunteering on these projects.

As well as our regular sessions we also offer a range of one off opportunities:

Holiday Camps – Working with kids age 4-11 playing loads of fun sports, games and activities (think dodgeball, football, parachute games, crash mat relays and more!). Don’t worry if you’re not an expert, we’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our team of coaches.

Dyke House School – We’re looking for a couple of enthusiastic volunteers come along and support a taster day at Maiden Castle for a local school, interested in sports or working with young people? This is the opportunity for you!

Junior Rowing Development – Be part of a team of students working towards developing Junior Rowing in County Durham including Indoor Rowing competitions, High Performance Academy, coaching schools sessions or holiday camps. Commit as much or a little time as you can and mentoring or qualifications also available to volunteers.

Disability Gifted and Talented – We’re looking for five volunteers to support and develop young athletes though talent ID days and workshops throughout the year.

One Off Events – We host a range of events including Mini Olympics, Charity Fun Runs, School Games and Mini Mud Run Fun Days. We rely heavily on the involvement of volunteers for both planning and execution on the day.
