Abstract submission

Abstracts for posters and oral presentations must be less than 250 words (excluding name and title) UNLESS you are a Level 4 undergraduate, in which case you can submit the 350 word abstract prepared for your research dissertation. Abstracts for the three minute thesis competition should just be one sentence long. They must be written in 11 pt Calibri font using the following format:

Name: e.g., Other, A.N.
Status: e.g., Level 2 undergraduate
Title: e.g., Volcanic history of the Bahamas
Main text

Abstracts should be submitted as a Word Document by emailing it as an attachment to earthscience.conference@durham.ac.uk by 7th May 2018. In the main text of the email, please state if you are submitting for an oral presentation (Level 4 only), for the three minute thesis competition, or for a poster. Undergraduates, please also state if you need help with the costs of poster printing. We will then contact you to discuss options.

If you are submitting an abstract then you do not need to register separately. In your email, please tell us if you have any dietary preferences for the lunch (e.g. vegetarian/gluten free etc.) and tell us if you are undergrad (plus level)/pg/postdoc/academic staff.

To attend the conference without abstract submission, you must register! To register, send an email to earthscience.conference@durham.ac.uk stating that you would like to attend. This can be done in the same email as abstract submission if you intend to present at, and attend, the conference (see above).

In the email, please state whether you are undergraduate (plus level), postgraduate, post doctoral, or academic staff and state your department (if outside of Earth Sciences). Please also tell us if you have any dietary preferences for the lunch (e.g. vegetarian/gluten free etc.).
