Ceilidhs

One of the main events we put on is the Folk Society Ceilidh. Ceilidhs are held at least once a term, are always well attended and are great fun. Please click here to find out more about upcoming ceilidhs.

Ceilidh Club

The Ceilidh Club is for anyone who just can't get enough of ceilidhs. Whether you want to learn to dance ceilidh dances, play for them, or even call them, everyone is welcome. This year (2016/2017), we meet on Thursdays 17:00-19:00 in the Vane Tempest room of the DSU.

Rapper

We also have a rapper sword dance team who dance regularly on pub crawls and at the society's ceilidhs, as well as performing at folk festivals. Click here for more information about the Durham University Rapper team.

The rapper team practices on Sunday evenings. Full details TBC. Come along and join in or simply watch in awe at the amazing skills required! No experience is necessary and musicians are also welcome.

Morris

The university morris side temporarily merged with Kern Morris last year. They meet at 8:00p.m. on Wednesdays at the Elvet Methodist Church Hall. We plan to re-establish the university morris side as a separate entity this year. Details TBC.

Appalachian

We plan to set up an Appalachian dancing group this year. Details TBC.

IVFDF

Next year Cambridge are hosting the Inter-Varsity Folk Dance Festival (IVFDF), from 24th - 26th February 2017. click here for more information about IVFDF.
