The hub of the bustling metropolis that is Folksoc, our fortnightly sessions are not to be missed.

Everyone is welcome, whether they play an instrument or not, whether they are a member or an average shmoe. The sessions take place on Wednesdays in the back of the Shakespeare pub. We have a tunebook containing manuscript of some of our favourite tunes, annotated with guitar chords, but we also love joining in with something new or listening to someone singing a song.

Whatever your standard, there will always be something you can join in with. Even if you don't play an instrument do please come along, any time from 8p.m., to soak up the sounds and some beer, and share your evening with other people who like this inspiring music!

The Shakespeare is on Saddler Street, which is the road which links the Market Square to Palace Green and the Bailey. If you walk from Market Square towards the Cathedral/Palace Green, you'll see it on your right.

Session Tunes

Folksoc's 2014/15 tunebook contains 48 fantastic folk tunes, annotated with guitar chords.

The tunebook is there so that everyone can join in. You can buy a copy from us for a puny 1.50, which is a bargain for such a large collection of manuscript! Or you can view the whole tunebook in pdf form, by clicking here.
