How to Add a Numbas Exam to a duo Course

This guide explains how to add a Numbas Exam to a duo Course. An ‘Exam’ is essentially a test made up of two or more Numbas questions. This guides assumes you have already created your Exam and it is ready to upload to duo.

If you’re new to Numbas and haven’t yet created any content, please visit the Numbas documentation website that explains how get started.

  1. Locate your Exam in the MathCentre.
  2. Click the Download button, then SCORM package.

  3. Go to your duo Course and locate the Content Area where you want to add the Exam.
  4. Click the Assessments menu at the top of the page, then select Numbas.

  5. By default the name of the item will be called ‘Numbas’, but you can change this if you want to and add a description.
  6. You will see a list of pre-configured settings as shown below. Please do not change these settings.

  7. Click Submit and launch – will open the New Numbas Activity page.

  8. Click the Choose File button and locate the zip file you downloaded from the Math Centre then click Submit.
  9. You should now see the Exam Dashboard. From this page you can see students’ attempts, statistics, change settings and perform a test run.

  10. Students can now attempt the Exam by clicking on the link in duo as shown below.
