There were few opportunities for taking pictures during the winter, resulting in a particularly random set of pictures from December to February.

A classic view of the Durham School boathouse in foreground and looking over the Wear to Durham Cathedral.

Durham in the snow (mid December)

Ice sculpture from the York Fire & Ice Festival (mid December)

St Mary’s parish church, Thirsk.

A partially frozen Leeds-Liverpool on a walk from Todmorden to Hebden Bridge in mid January. The towpath was impassable in places as a result of major flood damage, particularly around Hebden.

Pulling out from Keighley on the Keighley and Worth Valley railway (end of January).

Oxenhope station at the other end of the line.

Sunderland

The small, but well-formed Monkwearmouth Station Museum is based in the former grand Monkwearmouth Station.

The fine art exhibits, once a key feature of the Sunderland museum, are now tucked away at the back of the building!
