Pictures from a walk using the Glungezer lift from the village of Tulfes. (L) The splendid Tulfein Alm mountain hut. No English spoken, so food picked at random! (R) A mountain chapel on the route.

“Kugelwald” (Ball World) at the Glungezer mid-station.

Looking over the Inn valley to the Nordkette range.

Back in Innsbruck, the tourist hot-spot of the Goldenes Dachl. The oriel roof consists of 2738 gilded copper tiles and was completed in 1500 on the instructions of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I.

Nordkette

View over the Inn valley from Hungerburg.

The Theresienkirche (St Theresa’s Church) Hungerburg, and its frescoes.

The mid-station, Seegrube (1905 m), of the Nordkette lift.

The top, the Hafelekar station (2256m m), was in and out of the mist.

The start of the Nordkette via ferrata (klettersteig in German) – not for the faint hearted!
