Widdop Gate Barn

Walking up the side of Black Dean from Widdop Gate.

Not sure what these sheep were doing on the dam of Gorple Lower reservoir…

Widdop Gate Barn is a large old barn tastefully converted into National Trust holiday accommodation.

It was a particularly cold weekend and the central heating was struggling to heat the big, well, barn of a place. The solid fuel fire was essential!

Apperley Bridge walk

Pictures from a walk along the Leeds and Liverpool canal between the two recently opened stations of Apperley Bridge and Kirkstall Forge.

 Biscuit Factory

The Biscuit Factory is a contemporary art gallery in Newcastle housed in a former, well, biscuit factory. Despite the “contemporary” label, the art was surprisingly good, no doubt because it had to be sellable to down-to-earth Geordies!

Shibden Hall

Rooms in Shibden Hall, near Halifax.

The attached folk museum has a rather neglected feel!

Bradford’s “standards of length”. Troughton & Simms also made the corresponding length standards installed in Trafalgar Square.

Tynemouth
