Mary’s Bar

Mary’s Bar is located in the basement in the East Wing (left side as you look at it from the front steps) of the Fergusson building. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are very reasonable (£1.90 is the most expensive pint or 50p for a pint of soft drink). Just down the hall is the table tennis table and dartboard. In the bar we have a Freeview projector where we show many sporting events.

Although it gets some stick for being one of the smallest in the university, it is a great place to start an evening or just come down for a quiet pint and a chat. As a social space, it is one of the best in College and it is a great place to meet people from all years and people who you aren’t living on a corridor with. The bar hosts many events throughout the year, of which the live lounges are not to be missed. Pub quizzes also take place on a regular basis. Students work the bar so we will be on the lookout for new members of staff in the first few weeks. Working the bar is great fun, a good way to make some extra cash and another great way to meet new people. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Bar Steward, Ali Huse, on alistair.huse@durham.ac.uk.
