Hello and welcome to the Stephenson College football page.

Football is regarded as the people’s game and at Stevo this is exactly the ethos we have. Whilst players in each of the four teams above aim to emulate the work of Lionel Messi in training and have the Ronaldo run up for their free kicks, football at Stevo is more fun than serious. Players of all abilities are welcome to join our football club and we will then separate the intakes at trials into the 4 respective teams above.

In terms of form, last season really was a mixed bag for Stevo. The As achieved a very respectable mid-table finish, however could not retain their Floodlit Cup title as they were edged out in the first round by the ever agonising penalty shoot out. In contrast, the B’s year was a memorable one to say the least. Ending the year unbeaten and conceding the least amount of goals in the entire league (6 in 12 games!) helped them to secure the title and promotion to Division 1 in impressive fashion –  a memorable moment for Stephenson college. At the other end of Division 2, the C team fared less well and were unable to avoid relegation after a number of disappointing appearances throughout the year. Finally, in their very first year as a team the D team proved their worth by finishing 4th in Division 5, agonisingly close to winning the league by being only 3 points away.

As a football team, Stephenson provides socials, a great team chemistry and a competitive edge. Our fixtures are usually on Saturdays and Sundays and trials this year will be during induction week so watch this space for more details about this!

Women’s Football

Hello there Stevo Rangers and welcome to the Women’s Football Team!

This year saw the Women’s football team play their first season in the Premiership, finishing just above the relegation zone in a really strong first season at that level. This year they hope to continue their development and really push on to improve their league position, whilst having lots of fun at the same time!

The team are a lively bunch of ladies, who enjoy spending time with each other both on and off the pitch, with an array of socials for maximum team bonding. They usually train twice a week on the astroturf located at the campus gym. Matches are usually played on weekends, although Floodlit fixtures occur on Wednesday evenings. Training sessions cover both football skills and fitness and we welcome players of all ability levels, whether you’re the next big thing or haven’t kicked a ball for donkey’s years. Aiming to provide equal opportunities for everyone, we want everyone to get as involved as possible and therefore do not hold trials for the team.

Keep up to date with the dates of our first training sessions on this page!
