Hockey

Although Stephenson do not have their own male hockey team we are always aiming to start new sports so please do bring your kit along and we will do our best to sort a men’s hockey team for the upcoming year.

Captains – Emma Whitfield and Charlotte Wedekind

This year was a mixed season for women’s hockey, with some outstanding wins and some devastating losses. We finished the season mid-table, which we are happy with, but next year we are aiming higher and want to improve our position. We would love for you to join us in our mission, regardless of your ability – we started of this season with hockey novices and they were the make or break players in some of our games this year, both scoring and saving some amazing goals. Come down to a training session and get a feel for whether this is for you; we don’t hold trials as that’s not what we’re about. We have training once a week and the sessions cover both hockey skills and fitness. Hockey matches are usually played at Maiden Castle at the weekend. Our games are played on either sand based or water based pitches and we always play our heart out. Off the pitch, we’ve had some pretty amazing times; we believe that getting to know each other off the pitch helps you to communicate better on the pitch and ultimately leads to a better team spirit. This year our team bonding included some meals out and socials with other teams; we want to get more of these next year so we become more driven and closer knit.
