In this presentation I will discuss the outcomes of a mixed methods cross-faculty study comprising in-depth interviews, document analysis and statistical analysis on the perceptions and work-related experiences of a sample of teaching-only academics at a large research intensive institution in England. The study, inspired by Bourdieu’s Homo Academicus, sought to understand how teaching-only academics in research-intensive institutions make sense of how they reconstruct their academic identities and adapt themselves to teaching in a research-intensive environment.
