Aims and Objectives

1.    To advance theoretical understanding of the nature of low carbon transitions in sub-Saharan Africa.
2.    To analyse the political economy of the role of China, India and Brazil in low carbon transitions in Southern Africa.
3.    To assess the technically, socially and spatially differentiated nature of the low carbon transitions being created by China, India and Brazil in the region.
4.    To assess the implications for governance and development.
