Effect:  Caster learns the location and type of any magical source in the range of the spell. Response: If you are subject to or near any active elemental effect call "Ping" for each elemental effect. Only the caster gains the results of this call IC.


Breeze (Blue Cantrip)

Activation Phrase:  Breeze!
Effect:  A gentle breeze emanates from caster's palm for a moment.


Create Pebble (Brown Cantrip)

Range:  Self

Activation Phrase:  Create Pebble!
Effect:  Causes a pebble to appear in the caster's palm. The caster may only have one pebble at a time created by this spell.


Extinguish (Black Cantrip)

Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Extinguish that light!
Effect:  Will cancel magical light (Light cantrip) and light sources.


Ignite (Touch) (Red Cantrip)

Effect:  Object touched is affected with a match-sized flame. May ignite dry, easily flammable objects.


Create Water (Green Cantrip)

Effect:  Conjures 1 pint of water into container touched. This spell conjures the same body of water each time it is cast.


Light (White Cantrip)

Effect:  A beam of light emanates from the caster's hand, equivalent to a torch. Phys-rep: You can use a pen-torch.


First Level (1XP, 1 mana)

Dispel I (Grey First)

Activation Phrase:  Dispel 1!
Effect:  Destroys all spells on a target of the level of the dispel or lower. Notes: Dispel is available at all levels, but an elementalist must know all minor dispels to get the next one. Affects elemental elves. See the 'elementalism rules' document for more details.


Lock/Unlock (Blue First)

Effect:  Locks or unlocks any normal lock that requires a key, but does not hold it magically.


Knot/Unknot (Blue First)

Effect:  Knots one rope to one item (this may be undone manually) or unknots one rope.


Strikedown (touch) (Brown First)

Activation Phrase:  Strikedown!
Effect:  This is a touch spell, when the caster calls Strikedown, the recipient must fall over and may then stand.


Glimmer (Black First)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  3 Seconds
Activation Phrase:  Glimmer!
Effect:  The spell causes a temporary blind spot in the senses of the target, letting them roll freely over the caster without noticing her; a sort of lesser invisibility since it only affects one person. The target can interact freely with everything other than the caster for the duration of the spell. If the caster actively interacts with the target in the meantime (i.e. talks to them, shouts at them, strikes them, etc.) then the spell is immediately broken. Note that the target cannot attack the caster until the spell ends or is broken. They may only defend themselves from the caster if they have the “Blind Fighting” skill. The caster cannot call “throat cut” on the target.


Ignite (Range) (Red First)

Effect:  Object is affected with a match-sized flame. May ignite dry, easily flammable objects


Enhancement (Red First)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  5 Minutes or until first blow
Activation Phrase:  Enhancement
Effect:  Causes any weapon, including arrows, touched to do +1 degree of damage on the next blow.


Fracture (Grey First)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  3 Seconds
Activation Phrase:  Fracture! (point at target)
Effect:  A dart of magic is shot from the caster's hand which causes momentary disruption of any spellcasting matrix for 3 seconds. Note that this cannot be blocked by any form of armour.


Featherfall (Blue First)

Range:  Self
Duration:  1 Fall
Activation Phrase:  Featherfall!
Effect:  Caster falls lightly to the ground like a feather, taking no falling damage.


Douse (Green First)

Activation Phrase:  Douse [item]!
Effect:  Creates 1 pint of water at range. Which can put out a torch or candle, but not a fire. The target must be visible (no, you cannot create water inside peoples bodies).


Sprout (Green First)

Activation Phrase:  Sprout!
Effect:  Causes 1 plant touched to grow to harvest/fruition across the next 24 hours. Plants are stopped by physical barriers such as ceilings and do not destroy walls.


Water Breathing (Green First)

Activation Phrase:  Water Breathing!
Effect:  Allows caster to breathe water for 5 minutes.


Detect Heat (White First)

Effect:  Gives range and direction of any body of heat above the ambient temperature. Response: Any character in the area must say 'Ping!' loud enough for the caster to hear. Only the caster gains the results of this call IC.


Illumination (White First)

Activation Phrase:  Illuminate!
Effect:  A beam of light emanates from the caster's hand, equivalent to a larger torch. Phys-rep: You can use a torch.


Detect Inanimate (White First)

Range:  30 feet radius
Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Mass Detect [item]!
Effect:  Reveals distance and direction of every item of the specified type. You can be as detailed as you like in your physical description of the item, bu cannot include non-physical attributes (e.g Dave's sword, Vivamortian holy symbol). Response: If you are carrying or near an item of that type say 'Ping!' loud enough for the caster to hear. Only the caster gains the results of this call IC.


Whisper (White First)

Effect:  Permits a whispered message to be transmitted silently. Note that this is one-way.

Strikedown (Range) (Brown Second)

Activation Phrase:  Strikedown [person]!
Effect:  A force hits the target who must fall down to the ground, they may then stand. As if they had been hit by the spell "Strikedown (touch)".


Shatter (Touch) (Blue Second)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Shatter this [item]!
Effect:  Renders an item broken and unusable, or a weapon severely damaged. Against a mastercrafted or flawless item, this spell can be resisted once or twice, respectively. Against a weapon, the quality of the weapon is reduced to dross and it cannot be used to call more than NOTHING; and any skills that require a mastercrafted or flawless weapon cease to function with that weapon until it can be fixed. The weapon or shield is also knocked out of the target's hand as per Disarm. Against armour and shields, the quality of the item is reduced to dross.
The damage caused by this spell can be repaired by the ‘Mend’ spell or in downtime as a minor action. This damage does not affect magical, spiritual or demonic items - it should be noted that the disarming effect will still take place.


Disarm (Blue Second)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Disarm that [item]!
Effect:  A gust of wind knocks a specified object from the targets hand. (i.e. 1 handed weapon max)


Reinforce (Brown Second)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  1 hour
Activation Phrase:  Reinforce!
Effect:  Item touched becomes immune to the first “Shatter” for the next hour.


Cloak of Dusk (Black Second)

Range:  Self
Duration:  30 seconds
Activation Phrase:  Cloak of Dusk!
Effect:  Caster’s body becomes shadowy and indistinct until they next attack or cast a spell. The player may use the “Hand in Air” signal until they next strike a blow. This spell does not work in magical light, e.g. while in the beam of a Light cantrip, while in an area Imbued with Light, etc.
Note that detecting a character under the effects of this spell with abilities like Rec. Nature of Spirit or Rec. Magic does not allow you to target them directly.


Shock (Red Second)

Activation Phrase:  Shock, FLAMING DOUBLE!
Effect:  Allows the caster to call FLAMING DOUBLE by touch once.


Barrier (Self) (Green Second)

Effect:  A film of ice surrounds the caster and confers 2 points of magical armour.


Water Blast (Green Second)

Activation Phrase:  Water Blast! SUBDUAL ONE!
Effect:  A bolt of water shoots from the caster's hand to the target causing a FREEZING SUBDUAL ONE to the torso.


Talk to Animals (White Second)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Talk to Animals!
Effect:  Enables caster to converse with 1 animal within the limits of its intelligence. This should reveal details of what has happened in the area recently.


Recognise Nature of Creature (White Second)

Range:  30 feet

Activation Phrase:  Recognise Nature of Creature!
Effect:  Enables the caster to determine the current nature of a specific creature. The target responds “Ping! [Type of Creature]!” loudly enough for the caster to hear. For instance a human would respond “Ping! Human!”, an orc would “Ping! Orc!”, a zombie “Ping! Zombie!”, an imp would “Ping! Demon!”; non-corporeal entities will not ping! If your target is using disguise II, they will respond with the race they are disguised as.

Imbue Weapon with Air (Blue Third)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Imbue this [weapon] with Air!
Effect:  Adds LIGHTNING to the weapon's damage call for 5 minutes. If a second imbue weapon is cast on the same weapon the first imbue ends and the second takes over. This spell will cancel or be cancelled by any of the 'Fireblade' or 'Flamebow' spells.


Jump (Self) (Blue Third)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Jump!
Effect:  Caster is lifted and carried up to 30 feet through the air.


Mend (Brown Third)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Mend this [item]!
Effect:  Causes the broken pieces of an item, i.e. those destroyed by the “Shatter” spell, to fuse together into their original shape. This spell will also repair all damage to a single touched location of armour. If a Mastercrafted or Flawless piece of equipment has been hit by a “Shatter” spell, use of this spell will restore the capacity to withstand another “Shatter”.


Imbue Weapon with Earth (Brown Third)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Imbue this [weapon] with Earth!
Effect:  Adds EARTHEN to the weapons damage call for 5 minutes. If a second imbue weapon is cast on the same weapon the first imbue ends and the second takes over. This spell will cancel or be cancelled by any of the 'Fireblade' or 'Flamebow' spells.


Repel (Brown Third)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  5 minutes
Activation Phrase:  Repel!
Effect:  Causes a force to emanate from one of the casters palms. If directed at an individual, it prevents them from directly approaching the caster. If the target slips sideways faster than the caster can move their arm, the target mayapproach the caster. The caster may change target by calling "Repel" at the new target and may only effect a single target per palm.


Entangle (Brown Third)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  Until freed
Activation Phrase:  Entangle! (point at target)
Effect:  The ground beneath the target's feet wraps around their feet. This may be hacked off with 30 seconds continuous damage to the area around the feet. Target may still move their arms.


Mana Drain (Grey Third)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Mana Drain (Caster's Elemental skill level)!
Effect:  Target loses mana equal to the caster's Elemental skill level up to as much as the target has. This spell cannot make the target implode.


Imbue Weapon with Darkness (Black Third)

Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Imbue this [weapon] with Darkness!
Effect:  Adds SHADOW to the weapon's damage call for 5 minutes. If a second imbue weapon is cast on the same weapon the first imbue ends and the second takes over. This spell will cancel or be cancelled by any of the 'Fireblade' or 'Flamebow' spells.


Chameleon (Black Third)

Range:  Self
Duration:  5 Minutes or until broken
Activation Phrase:  Chameleon!
Effect:  Allows caster to hide and be effectively invisible to normal sight. They can still be detected by other sights, senses or means. This allows the player to use the ‘Hand in Air’ signal. The spell ends if the caster moves or casts.
Note that detecting a character under the effects of this spell with abilities like Rec. Nature of Spirit or Rec. Magic does not allow you to target them directly.


Imbue Weapon with Fire (Red Third)

Range:  Touch

Activation Phrase:  Imbue this [weapon] with Flame!
Effect:  Adds FLAMING to the weapon's damage call for 5 minutes. If a second imbue weapon is cast on the same weapon the first imbue ends and the second takes over. This spell will cancel or be cancelled by any of the 'Fireblade' or 'Flamebow' spells.


Fireblade I (Red Third)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Fireblade I
Effect:  Causes a weapon up to 18" burn causing +1 degree of damage from magical fire. This adds the FLAMING damage descriptor.


Imbue Weapon with Water (Green Third)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Imbue this [weapon] with Water!
Effect:  Adds FREEZING to the weapon's damage call for 5 minutes. If a second imbue weapon is cast on the same weapon the first imbue ends and the second takes over. This spell will cancel or be cancelled by any of the 'Fireblade' or 'Flamebow' spells.


Deluge (Green Third)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Deluge!
Effect:  Creates a deluge of water at range. This deluge falls from the sky and floods an area, which can put out a fire but does not cause damage. The target must be visible (no, you cannot create water inside peoples bodies!).


Talk to Inanimate (White Third)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Talk to Inanimate!
Effect:  Allows the caster to converse with the item touched, which may include bodies of water or regions of air. Only the caster can hear the item speak.

If not previously sentient the item becomes temporarily capable of limitted intelligence and is generally co-operative to the caster, responding to simple questions. An item spoken to in this way has only a limitted perception of its surroundings (sight/sound), and a patchy memory of recent events. In Character it is well known that the information gained in this way is often incomplete and unreliable.

Either way the caster may demand the item reveals its powers and purpose.

Farsight (White Third)

Effect:  Casters vision increases tenfold. So detail can be easily seen from a distance, of things in line of sight.


Signal (White Third)

Effect:  Caster creates an image of light and places it anywhere within thirty feet. This image must be a simple pictogram and may not contain words.


Imbue Weapon with Light (White Third)

Effect:  Adds RADIANT to the weapon's damage call for 5 minutes. If a second imbue weapon is cast on the same weapon the first imbue ends and the second takes over. This spell will cancel or be cancelled by any of the 'Fireblade' or 'Flamebow' spells.


Barrier (Other) (Green Third)

Effect:  A field of ice surrounds the recipient and confers two points of magical armour.

Reshape (Blue Fourth)

Activation Phrase:  Reshape [item] into [item]!
Effect:  Changes 1 inanimate item into another. Note: only topology changes; the chemical, physical and internal structure remain. A dead goblin may be reshaped into a sword, but it will be a sword made of dead goblin, not steel. The caster must provide an appropriate phys-rep for the final state.


Phase (Self) (Blue Fourth)

Effect:  Permits caster to walk through any solid surface with impunity, in a straight line up to 30 feet away.


Levitate (Self) (Blue Fourth)

Range:  Self

Effect:  Permits caster to levitate. Only vertical movement is allowed at a rate of 1 foot per second.


Shatter (Range) (Blue Fourth)

Effect:  Glues two items together. The items must already be in contact. They cannot be separated for the duration of the spell.


Mudslick (Brown Fourth)

Range:  30 feet (10 feet radius)

Activation Phrase:  Mudslick!
Effect:  Creates a patch of mud that causes all on it to slip over unless they either crawl or move at half speed over it.


Conceal Object (Black Fourth)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  24 Hours
Activation Phrase:  Conceal object!
Effect:  Item touched cannot be detected by 'Detect Inanimate' and is mute to the 'Talk to Inanimate' spell.


Hiding (Black Fourth)

Range:  10 feet radius

Effect:  Area is hidden from magical scrying. This area is fixed when cast and does not move with the caster.

Effect:  Enables the caster to determine the immunities a specific creature has. The target responds by listing all damage types they are completely immune to. Target should respond with “Immune to…” if they aren’t immune to anything then respond with “Immune to nothing.”


Fireblade II (Red Fourth)

Activation Phrase:  Fireblade II
Effect:  Causes a weapon from 18" to 24" to burn causing +1 degree of damage from magical fire. This adds the FLAMING damage descriptor.


Fireball (Red Fourth)

Activation Phrase:  Fireball FLAMING THREE! (point at target)
Effect:  Creates a ball of fire which does 3 hits of FLAMING DAMAGE to the torso of the target.


Plate (Self) (Green Fourth)

Range:  Self
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Plate!
Effect:  Caster's skin becomes as strong as steel. Gives 4 points of magical armour.


Genesis (Green Fourth)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  24 Hours
Activation Phrase:  Genesis!
Effect:  All plants within a 30 foot radius grow to harvest/fruition across the next 24 hours. Plants are stopped by physical barriers such as ceilings and do not destroy walls.


Wall of Vines (Green Fourth)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Wall of Vines! TIME-FREEZE
Effect:  As the spell is cast the mage puts down a physical representation of the wall of vines up to 10 feet long. This represents a wall of magical vines 10 feet high. Walking through this takes 30 seconds, weapons may not strike damage through this wall but the wall of vines does not interrupt line of sight.

Any obstacles in the way (e.g. trees, walls, large rocks) will limit its length. The caster should call Time Freeze to place the phys-rep of the wall, and then call Time In once all players and monsters are ready to continue.


Talk to Sentient (White Fourth)

Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Talk to Sentient!
Effect:  Caster and target become able to communicate for 5 minutes despite any language barrier between them. This spell does not grant the target the ability to speak if it does not already possess it.

Effect:  Target is lifted and carried up to 30 feet through the air.


Embody Small Elemental (Blue Fifth)

Range:  Self
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Embody small air elemental! TIME-FREEZE!
Effect:  Summons a small Sylph to embody the caster, replacing them for the duration of the spell.
On casting ‘Time freeze’ should be called and the caster’s player should don the appropriate elemental costume (this spell cannot be cast without it to hand) then ‘Time in’ in the same pose and position the caster was in. For the duration of the spell, they play the elemental, acting under the mental control of the caster. The elemental has the stats as per the ‘Elementalism rules’ document, effects on the caster are paused while the elemental is embodied and do not carry over to the elemental. Similarly, effects cast on the elemental end when it leaves. The caster cannot act or be targeted while the spell is in effect. When the elemental is destroyed or the duration expires, the caster should call ‘Time freeze’, remove the elemental costume, then ‘Time in’ as the caster in the same pose and position the elemental was in. All previous effects on the caster then resume.


Tremor (Brown Fifth)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Tremor! CONE STRIKEDOWN! CONE STRIKEDOWN! CONE STRIKEDOWN! (Caster points with both arms at 120 degrees)
Effect:  The earth within the arc for 30 feet shakes all within it, causing them to fall to the ground as if they had been hit by the spell "Strikedown" each time CONE STRIKEDOWN is called.


Embody Small Elemental (Brown Fifth)

Range:  Self
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Embody small earth Elemental! TIME-FREEZE!
Effect:  Summons a small Gnome to embody the caster, replacing them for the duration of the spell.
On casting ‘Time freeze’ should be called and the caster’s player should don the appropriate elemental costume (this spell cannot be cast without it to hand) then ‘Time in’ in the same pose and position the caster was in. For the duration of the spell, they play the elemental, acting under the mental control of the caster. Effect:  Everyone within 30' of the caster begins to speak in a universally comprehensible language, this does not bestow the ability to speak on objects or people which cannot speak. Anything which is the subject of a "Talk to x" spell in this area is universally comprehensible also.


Dispel VIII (Grey Eighth)

Activation Phrase:  Dispel 8!
Effect:  Destroys all spells on a target of the level of the dispel or lower. Notes: Dispel is available at all levels, but an elementalist must know all minor dispels to get the next one. Affects elemental elves. See the 'elementalism rules' document for more details.


Extension II (Grey Eighth)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  60 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Extension II
Effect:  When cast immediately after another spell, and the correct element is invoked, the duration of the spell is extended to the duration of the extension. Affects elemental elves.


Reflection (Grey Eighth)

Range:  Self
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Reflection!
Effect:  When a spell is cast on the caster he or she need merely extend his palm and say "Reflect!'' and the spell is turned back on its caster. Note that the spell must be directed at the person of the caster, so spells targeted at anything they are holding/wearing or dispels targeted at a spell already on the caster are not reflected. Untargeted dispels of levels 8 and above will cancel this spell.


Enchant (Grey Eighth)

Activation Phrase:  Enchant!
Effect:  This spell preserves and replenishes the energies in magical items.
If cast upon a scroll, it prevents the scroll from becoming destroyed the next time it is read within the next 24 hours.
If cast upon a wand, it replenishes all charges of the current spell stored within the wand, even if it contains no charges currently. The mana used to cast Enchant is committed to the wand exactly as if the caster had originally cast the wand's spells into it; any excess replenishes normally immediately, any shortfall (in the case of 9th level spells) is added to the commitment immediately.
This spell may affect geomantic and other unusual magic items with charges at ref discretion.


Fly (Other) (Blue Eighth)

Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Fly!
Effect:  Grants the target the ability to fly, horizontal movement is limited by the characters running speed and vertical movement is limited to 5' a second.


Earthquake (Brown Eighth)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Earthquake CONE STRIKEDOWN.
Effect:  The earth within the arc for 30 feet shakes all within it, causing them to fall to the ground. For the duration of the spell the caster may continue to call "CONE STRIKEDOWN!" in a 120 degree arc at will, each time causing those in the arc to fall to the ground as if hit by the spell, "Strikedown".


Hide in Inanimate (Black Eighth)

Range:  Touch
Duration:  24 Hours
Activation Phrase:  Hide [item] in [item]!
Effect:  One inanimate object being touched by the caster at the same time as touching the other is hidden. Whilst there is an object stored inside, the object responds to rec. magic. The spell can be broken at will by the caster. Otherwise it ends after 24 hours or when the container is broken. Only one object can be stored in a another at any one time and this spell does not work on an object already under the effect of this spell (no recursive swords).


Flame Storm (Red Eighth)

Activation Phrase:  Flamestorm! CONE GLOBAL FLAMING SINGLE!
Effect:  All within area encompassed by caster's arms take FLAMING SINGLE hit to every location. point with arms outstretched at angle of 120 degrees at affected area.


Disruption (Red Eighth)

Range:  30 feet
Duration:  Instant
Activation Phrase:  Disruption! FLAMING SEVEN! (point at target)
Effect:  Target is filled with flame causing 7 points of FLAMING damage to the torso.


Bubble (Green Eighth)

Range:  30 feet, Sphere
Duration:  5 Minutes
Activation Phrase:  Bubble! TIME-FREEZE
Effect:  On casting the caster lays out a physical representation of the edge of the bubble, All those within the bubble have magic armour sufficient and all non-spiritual damage calls are reduced to zero. Entering or exiting the bubble takes 30 seconds. The caster must remain still in the middle of the bubble, with both feet on the ground, and maintain it, if the caster's concentration is broken the bubble disappears.


Absorption (Grey Eighth)

Effect:  Spells cast at the caster are absorbed into his or her body, and he or she gains the mana in the spell up to his or her normal limit. Note that the spell must be directed at the person of the caster, so spells targeted at anything they are holding/wearing or dispels targeted at a spell already on the caster are not absorbed. Untargeted dispels of levels 8 and above will cancel this spell.

Effect:  Summons a large Alkar to embody the caster, replacing them for the duration of the spell.

Effect:  The caster is rendered invisible. The effect is broken through spellcasting or violent action by the caster (e.g. firing a crossbow, chopping down a tree, etc.), but can be renewed after 3 seconds for as long as the spell is still active. This allows the player to use the ”Hand in Air“ signal.
Note that detecting a character under the effects of this spell with abilities like Rec. Nature of Spirit or Rec. Magic does not allow you to target them directly.


Embody Large Elemental (Red Ninth)

Effect:  Summons a large Salamander to embody the caster, replacing them for the duration of the spell.

Effect:  Makes caster immune to physical and through damage and provides 12 points of magical armour. The immunity is lost when the last point of magical armour is lost or the spell reaches the end of its duration. Note that the armour can only be removed using magic damage.
