Welfare

A range of welfare options are available to you as a postgraduate at Van Mildert.

Personal Support

College Offices

If you have any concerns, you are welcome to talk to either of the Senior Tutors or the College Chaplain, who is also the Postgraduate Tutor in Van Mildert. All three have regular office hours and are contactable via email or in person.

MCR Welfare

The MCR also has a Welfare Representative, who will be able to answer any questions that you may have about the welfare provision in College during the weekly welfare drop-in hours or by appointment. If, at any time, you need to talk to someone, you can contact the Welfare Representative using the e-mail address on the Committee page.

University Services

Counselling Service

The University operates a confidential Counselling Service, information about which can be found through their link on the Useful Contacts page.

Nightline

Nightline is a confidential volunteer chat service operated during term time. For example, you might want to talk to someone in confidence, as sometimes it can be helpful to talk to someone you don’t know. You can also contact Nightline for any information that you might want – pizza/taxi numbers, the number for NHS direct or info about where your exam is being held. You are welcome to stop by at their office for a cup of tea, for safe sex supplies, pregnancy tests, attack alarms, somewhere warm to wait for the Nightbus (which stops right outside our office) or for support throughout the night. Nightline operates a drop-in centre, as well as a telephone line and Skype sessions. The Nightline drop-in centre can be found behind The Dun Cow Pub on Old Elvet.

Additional welfare contacts can be found on the Useful Contacts page.
