It’s over two years now since we launched the Durham Student Blog, a regular series of blogs written by current students to tell you what life is really like here at Durham University. We aim to cover as wide a variety of topics as possible, from academic to social, and to offer handy hints and tips to make the most of University life. Since 2016 we have published over 220 blogs from 155 different student bloggers and the most popular blog to date is ‘What to expect in Freshers’ Week’ with over 6,500 views!
Not content with resting on our laurels, we thought the blog site was ready for an update so have given it a make over with a fresh new look. Now students can keep sharing their experiences of life at Durham in style! You can search blogs by category using the drop down menu on the right side of the screen, or just scroll down and see what comes up.
So far, student blogs have covered loads of different aspects of University life, from getting to grips with academia, to the fun of College Days. As sport, theatre, music and volunteering are all really big here, many students have shared their experiences of being involved with different activities and events. From playing in a national championship sports final to performing in a concert for HRH Prince Charles in Durham Cathedral, or organising the annual Durham Duck Race, there is so much going on that there is always something new to read.
… and more to come
We are always working with students to come up with new ideas and new stories to be told. For instance, blogs are also a great way of finding out what goes on in and around Durham. The north east of England is a great part of the world, beautiful, historic and vibrant, so we are always looking for students to contribute to the ‘Exploring the region’ series, to let you know about their favourite haunts. Also – watch out for the new series of ‘Meet the Mascots’ blogs, where each of our 16 colleges will introduce their mascot!

Thanks to our student bloggers
We would like to say a huge Thank you, to all 155 of the students who have taken the time to write a blog and supply photographs up to now and hope they will keep contributing, as it is their views on student life that make this so interesting.
