Thursday Polo session

Canoe Polo training session.

Wednesday Barrage Session

The Wednesday barrage sessions take place at the Tees Barrage in Stockton. We meet at the boathouse at 4 pm after the gym session. The barrage is an artificial white water course with a cafe and showers.

With BUCS slalom and NSR both happening this term, the sessions are a good time to try out freestyle moves or nail your gate technique.

Everyone is welcome to come along!

Monday pool session

Meet at the boathouse for 19:40, to load the boats onto cars and drive to Darlington.

The session is 21:00-22:00 and you can expect to be back in Durham for around 22:45.

Please bring swimwear, and a towel (and t-shirt/shorts/leggings to wear on top in the pool if you want).

In this session there will be opportunities to practise general kayaking skills, play games and have fun in the warmth of a swimming pool with our trained coaches -- one of the best sessions of the week to come to if you're a beginner, or if you want to work on improving any of your kayaking skills.

This term there will be more of a focus on building skills for the upcoming events in polo, slalom, and freestyle.

Barrage session

For the first Saturday of term, we will be heading to the Tees barrage instead of a river trip. The aim of this is so people can improve their skills and try out the barrage before slalom. Anyone who has not been to the barrage before is highly recommended to come. There is a cafe and showers there.

Meet at the boat house at 10 am. The barrage is open until 5, but we will probably be back before that.

Christmas Meal

This year our Annual Festive Feast is at The Bridge Hotel, which - as everyone who has been to the pub quiz will know - is pretty epic. The dress code is formal, but if you don't own a suit and tie/ dress the alternative theme is Christmas trees. Please pay your £5 deposit to the club account and comment your order on the Facebook group post.

Christmas Paddle!!

It's the weekend before term ends, and all through the club,
There's excitement among us as we head for the pub.

Wet kit is hung in the boathouse with care,
The boats and paddles are all piled in there.

The paddlers are cold after a mid-winter dip,
But they've had a great time on the Christmas RIVER TRIP!

I may not be an award winning poet, but I do know that the Christmas paddle is going to be great fun. It's happening on Saturday, before the Christmas meal, and we'll be heading off to do a river suitable for everyone.

To make it even more fun (as if it needs that), there's going to be a fancy dress competition. Whoever dresses themself and their boat up with the best Christmassy theme will get a PRIZE! (Don't ask me what yet...)

Meet at the boathouse at 9 am. We will be back in plenty of time before the meal in the evening.

River trip

This weekend we will hopefully be running a joint trip with the canoe club from University of East Anglia. The river and timings will be dependent on what they are wanting to do, but it is likely to be similar timing to the normal river trips. The river is going to be suitable to everyone.

River trip

After another week off for BUCS white water race, the weekly river trip has returned. Again, we'll see on the day what the conditions are like and which river will be suitable but everyone is welcome to come along.

Meet at the boathouse at 10 am, we'll get kitted up and head off for a day of fun, hopefully back in Durham by 16:00.
