Become a Community Health Champion with Wellbeing for Life!

Would you like to become a Community Health Champion and get a qualification? You need to be committed to volunteer for 2 hours a week in term time with a Wellbeing for Life staff member visiting people in their own homes, healthcare centres or in community venues. You will be helping people to make healthier choices, such eating healthier, exercising more or giving up smoking.

Before you volunteer, you will attend a training day on Saturday 9th March to get a free Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Understanding Health Improvement Level 2 accredited qualification. The aim of the course is to provide learners with knowledge and understanding around the principles of promoting health and wellbeing. It explores health inequalities, how effective communication can support health messages and the impact of change for an individual improving their health and wellbeing.  This is a national qualification course with a multi choice exam at the end of the day. You will also need a DBS check with Wellbeing for Life, which is free.

We expect those who attend the training day to all go on to commit to the 2 hours a week during term time. If you do not do this, you may be charged for the qualification. There are limited spaces available with priority to non-finalists and we hope people will continue to volunteer next academic year too.
