The weather in December has been decidedly variable, but we had glorious blue skies for a trip to High and Low Force, two waterfalls on the River Tees (“force” is derived from the Viking word for waterfall).

By tradition a wet and miserable month, November this year has been unreasonably pleasant; more blustery showers and sun than rain. Although the country around Durham is generally nothing special, autumn brings out the best.
