The simplicity and clarity of road signs is very appealing. This is a random selection:
Group of icons caught in Park Town, Oxford [51 45 59 N 1 15 33 W]: a rather grubby Left Only sign, an old postbox (possibly Victorian; initials are hard to read) + fire hydrant.
Typical US street cleaning notification. It seems unlikely that such notices would been taken seriously in, say, France…
US practice of incrementing addresses by 100 each “block” does result in rather anonymous large numbers, but does make them easy to locate (the base number of the block is given, as here, in a small panel above the street name at each intersection). Both pictures above were taken around 37 44 55 N, 122 27 36 W (Forest Hill area of San Francisco).
“No through road” (near Dyffryn Ardudwy, Wales).
“Keep your horse’s speed down!” Ornate Paris street sign [48 51 26 N, 2 17 54 E].
