By tradition a wet and miserable month, November this year has been unreasonably pleasant; more blustery showers and sun than rain. Although the country around Durham is generally nothing special, autumn brings out the best.

Classic winter picture – holly clad trees.
Rose hips. Bushes and trees covered in red fruit and berries were everywhere once you started looking.
Fungi were also everywhere in the damp woodland. These fungi seemed part of a group and may be the same species, but given the number of UK fungus species identifying it is tricky.
