A tough but superb walk around Tofana di Rozes – a 3225 m peak just past the Falzarego pass from Arabba.
The ascent was from the rifugio Dibona (2050 m) through the pass between Tofana di Rozes and Tofana di Mezzo to rifugio Giussani (2561 m).
View up towards Tofana di Mezzo
View past Tofana di Rozes (left).
View across the valley (towards the Fanis group?).
From a distance, this descent look rather hairy (EH)…
Actually, far from being tumble down, the log sections were carefully stabilising the path and descent was straightforward.
Waterfall from snow-melt. It’s a puzzle why the rock turns black when wet – lichen?
Look back down the Travenanzestal valley from Col de Bos (2330 m).
The end of the walk involved a gentle stroll back to the start along a wooded path (route 412) – a nice balanced way to end of a long walk (distance?).
