Short sets of photos from two day walks.
On the route to Lake Gormire below Sutton Bank in the North York Moors.
Lake Gormire – one of the few natural lakes in Yorkshire. Note that “mire” well describes most of the path around the lake!
The odd-looking purple jelly fungus, ascocoryne sarcoides.
Second set of pictures from a walk around Frosterley in Weardale. The landscape bears the marks of the heavy mining activity (now mostly vanished), but has its own charm and interest.
Old lime kilns.
Former workings.
