Friday
Alpinistes (L) and Mont Blanc (R) viewed from a quick trip up to the Aiguille du Midi.
The weather wasn’t great and freezing rain / ice had stuck to outside of the station.
(Too cloudy for photographs from a trip up the Flagère cable car and the L’Index télésiège!)
Chapel at Les Praz [45.94054 N 6.88728 E].
The distinctive and aptly named Orange Peel fungus, Aleuria aurantia.
An undistinguished puffball – curiously called in French une vesse-de-loup (“wolf’s fart”!).
Probably Fomitopsis pinicola.
Unidentified – perhaps a Soft Slipper fungus, Crepidotus mollis?
Unidentified.
A classy French portaloo!
The final fungus haul; a lovely cep (top left), some kind of milk cap (top right), some not-so-interesting bolete (bottom left) and uncertain (bottom right). Pleasingly it turned out to be true that French pharmacists were trained in identifying edible fungi.
