Pictures from a weekend in Keswick at the end of May.
Perhaps “golf course view” might have been more accurate than “lake view”, but the Highfield hotel was splendid.
Pictures of the Watendlath valley, on a walk from the Lodore Falls hotel, conveniently accessible by bus from Keswick. The packhorse bridge (R) has been described as the most photographed packhorse bridge in England, so no marks for originality there.
The picturesque Watendlath Tarn.
On the return up the Borrowdale valley before catching a launch back to Keswick.
The charming church of St Bega on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake (curiously the only official “lake” in the Lake District).
(L) Steam locomotive at the splendidly low key Threlkeld quarry and mining museum, just east of Keswick and (R) parting of the ways at Appleby railway station.
