Waskerley Way

(L) Waskerley reservoir and (R) Smiddy Shaw reservoir on a walk along the part of the Waskerley Way.

The Waskerley Way cycle / walking route is constructed on a section of the former Stanhope and Tyne mineral railway. (L) In the early days, wagons were hauled by horses over level sections and so stone blocks rather than sleepers were used to allow the horses to walk between the rails.
