Northumberlandia is a giant land sculpture near Cramlington constructed from earth moved from (L) an adjacent open cast coal mine.


Only at certain angles is the overall form of a reclining female figure apparent.

The National Centre for the Written Word, or just The Word, is a splendid new library / cultural venue just next to the South Shields ferry terminal.
