Armley Mills

On a return visit to the Armley Mills Industrial Museum, Leeds. (L) Spinning mule being demonstrated, (R) arrays of sewing machines for stitching garments.

Kirkstall Abbey.

The Great Hall of Barley Hall, a reconstructed medieval townhouse in York. Only a small fraction of the original timberwork was usable and the building had been heavily altered over the centuries, so the museum is more of a “re-imagining” than a restoration.

The slightly mysterious statue called “Albert the Good” in Wharton Park, Durham (February).

Viaducts over the Ouseburn valley in Newcastle. In the foreground is the graceful Byker Metro viaduct, behind is the Ouseburn viaduct carrying the East Coast Main Line.

Ormesby Hall

Bedroom at Ormesby Hall (National Trust), near Middlesborough.

(L) Laundry and (R) Kitchen range at Ormesby Hall.

Less expectedly, one of two large model railway layouts!

York cathedral in the snow during one of the several “[weather] beasts from the East” this year.

Grange weekend

Pictures from Ulverston during a weekend away in Grange-over-sands. (L) Laurel and Hardy statue outside the Coronation Hall (Stan Laurel was born in Ulverston). (R) Hoad Hill, and its monument to John Barrow.

(L) Hisehope reservoir and (R) conduit from Hisehope reservoir to Smiddy Shaw reservoir, near Waskerley, from a walk in late March. The log with trap is presumably to presumably intended to catch rats as they try to get from one side of the channel to the other.
