SCR Executive Committee

The SCR Exec is made up of elected members, each of whom perform different roles in ensuring the smooth running of the SCR. Each member and their role and contact information can be found below. General SCR contact information can be found on the right.

President

Mr. Harry Cross (harry.cross@durham.ac.uk)

Harry Cross I'm Harry, I'm President of St Aidan's SCR. I'm in my last year of a PhD in history. When I'm not in university, I love learning languages and going on walks in the North East. St Aidan's is a beautiful college in a garden setting with the best view in Durham. I hope you get to enjoy Durham and the region through St Aidan's SCR.

Chair

Ms. Yoana Georgieva (yoana.y.georgieva@durham.ac.uk)

Yoana Yoana is an LLM student specialising in International Law and Governance, who lives off tea, coffee and books. You can typically find her wandering around the Cathedral trying to recreate her favourite Harry Potter scenes. As Chair she is responsible for overseeing the democratic processes in all of the SCRs activities, chairing SCR meetings and reviewing our standing orders.

Treasurer

Ms. Katie Brun (katie.d.brun@durham.ac.uk)

Katie Brun Katie Brun is a Post Graduate Research student in History and in addition to studying at Durham she has studied at the graduate level at Uppsala University in Sweden. Brun trained and worked at Vasa Museum in Stockholm and has extensive training in using material cultural objects, and her interests focus on 18th-century print culture and British identities.

Welfare Officer

Vani Jain Heya! Im Vani and Im a PhD student at the Department of Sociology. As your Welfare Officer, Im here to make sure you have a happy and safe time at St Aidans. The SCR will be running weekly drop-in sessions (every Tuesday, 4-5 pm) where you can come in to talk about any issue youre having or just for a chat! Secretary

Mr. Alejandro Ramirez (st-aidans.scr@durham.ac.uk)

Alejandro Ramirez The SCR Secretary is responsible for all admin-related areas of the SCR, managing our mailing list, sending emails to our members and taking minutes at every SCR meeting. Alejandro is your first point of call for any questions you may have that relate to the SCR and will be regularly in contact with you about new events coming up this year

Social Secretary

Ms. Claire Jordan (claire.h.jordan@durham.ac.uk)

Claire Jordan Claire is from Norway and did her undergrad there. She qualified as a teacher in May. She’s currently doing her MAs in intercultural communication and Education. As a social secretary at St.Aidans she wants to create events that includes every postgrad at our college. She is looking forward to meet new people at the college during her year in Durham. Some of her Interests are traveling and experiencing different parts of the world, music, and enjoyes stereotypical Norwegian things such as skiing and knitting!

IT Officer & Postgraduate Representative (Academics)

Mr. Simon Guisset (simon.guisset@durham.ac.uk)

Simon Guisset Simon is a taught MSc Student working in Theoretical Physics with two undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Physics. He is a proud Belgian citizen as evidenced by his love for a well brewed beer. Simon is passionate about Fundamental Physics questions and Pure Mathematics and is also a huge fan of the "Lord of the Rings". As the IT officer, Simon is responsible for the SCR’s website and other IT related issues. As a Postgraduate Representative, Simon plans on organizing lectures and seminars series and is responsible for any academics issues encountered by students.

Postgraduate Representative (International)

Mr. Yinquan Zhang (yinquan.zhang@durham.ac.uk)

Yinquan Zhang Yinquan (Brian) Zhang is a Msc student in Management from Hebei, a province of China in the North China region. He loves varieties of ball games and he is passionate about good food, alcohol culture and traveling with his friends. As the International Postgraduate Representative, Brian is looking forward to representing his peers’ views to the Executive Committee, and plans on focusing on international students’ needs by working closely with St. Aidan’s International Society. Ms. Anna Christodoulou (ccnt81@durham.ac.uk)

Anna Christodoulou Hello there! My name is Anna Christodoulou and I am a law school graduate currently studying the Criminology and Criminal Justice MSc programme here at Durham University. I am originally from Cyprus and have been living in the UK for the past four years now. When I am not nose deep in a book, I enjoy binge watching documentaries on Netflix and working out. Socialising is the ‘activity’ I enjoy the most particularly in environments which stimulate both educational and positive dialogues. Seeing as how I am a liver out myself, my goal as a postgraduate representative is to ensure livers out are making the most out of their college experience and ensure everyone understands that all of us, independently and collectively, have a voice.

Ms. Viona Ho (jing.q.ho@durham.ac.uk)

Viona Ho Viona Ho is a MSc student in Marketing from Singapore hoping to make your experience in college a comfortable and enjoyable one. As the PG Representative for livers-in, she is responsible for representing the views of all the members of the SCR to the executive committee and to the college, in particular, for postgraduates who are living in college. When she’s not studying, Viona is constantly thinking of new places to travel to. Don’t hesitate to contact her if you need anything!
