The SUPERGEN Wind Energy Technologies Consortium (SUPERGEN Wind) was established by the EPSRC on 23 March 2006 as part of the Sustainable Power Generation and Supply (SUPERGEN) programme.

The SUPERGEN Wind Consortium is led by Strathclyde and Durham Universities and consists of 9 research groups with expertise in wind turbine technology, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, materials, electrical machinery & control, and reliability & condition monitoring. The Consortium has the active support of 10 industrial partners, including wind farm operators, manufacturers and consultants.


The Consortium's principal objective is:

To undertake research to improve the cost-effective reliability and availability of existing and future large-scale wind turbine systems in the UK.
