George EllwoodLei

Academic background
George Ellwood completed a B Eng in Materials Science and Engineering at  the University of Sheffield followed by an  MSc in Mechanical Engineering Design at UMIST; He joined the STFC Graduate Engineer Scheme in 2005 and became a Chartered Engineer in 2010.

Research topic
Finite element modelling  of turbine blades

Research background and objectives
His objective is to create a dynamic model of the turbine as it rotates to predict the stress within the blades. He aims to use aerodynamic loads generated by another members of the Supergen consortium and the blade model created in Supergen 1.
