GPU accelerated computation of Wind Turbine Radar Cross-Sections

Research background and objectives
The objective of his research is to further highlight the extent to which off-shore Wind Turbines interfere with local radar operations through the development of a novel Computational Electromagnetics method, utilising the recent innovations in fast, massively parallel GPU computing. The research will be conducted in collaboration with The University of Manchester in order to validate their fast Physical Optics model of the inrteractions between Wind Turbine and Radar. The aim of the computer model is to inform the Wind Power industry about the full impact a wind farm can have on nearby radar operations, as well as to facilitate further research into Radar absorbing materials and other mitigation strategies.
